OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO ENSURE YOU HAVE A SAFE, FUN AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE WHILE PARTISIPATING IN ANY OF OUR COURSES.
Nevsail is a National Training Centre for the Irish Sailing Association and on successfully completing one of our Courses Participants will be awarded with a certificate of proficiency.
Run by I.S.A Qualified Instructors learn to sail in comfort and style with our ever growing extensive choice of sailing dinghies: 420's, Wayfarers and our Drascombe Lugger and Dabber.
Both children and adult courses are provided.

| A TASTE OF SAILING |
This is a 2 ½ hour session, which can be organized and run any time, afternoons....weekends and weekdays...
• Suitable for beginners or the most experienced sailors to enjoy a quick taste of sailing using a boat that suits you.
• The instructor may be on board, in a rescue boat or on hand to help out, depending on your ability and weather conditions.
• Participants will be awarded with a certificate of proficiency by us recognized by the Irish Sailing Association.
COST: €35 PER PERSON. MINIMUM OF 2 PER DINGHY. |
2 DAY BEGINNERS START SAILING COURSE (Level 1)
- Safety is our No.1 priority followed by your enjoyment and learning.
- This is usually run over a Weekend:
Saturday/Sundays (10:30am -5:30 pm).using the I.S.A. Start Sailing syllabus.
- Learn to sail confidently and safely, sailing upwind and down, Tacking and gybing, recovery procedures from capsizing, sailing a triangular course, and venture a SAILING TRIP to end the course off (weather permitting).
- Sailing with an instructor from day One, get a real sense of achievement, and finding out what it is all about.
- At the end of the 2 Day Course the novice Sailor will have had a brief introduction to Sailing, have covered basic boat handling techniques and learned essential background knowledge.
- It is recommended that the sailor go onto the Basic Skills (level 2) Course to really feel confident with their sailing ability.

COST: €150 PER PERSON
3 DAY BASIC SKILLS (Level 2)
- Runs on 3 consecutive days from (10:30-5:30 p.m)
- By the end of this course the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a good basic knowledge of sailing and be able to handle your own dinghy competently in light to moderate winds without an instructor.
- You will learn many aspects about safety on the water, Launch and recovery, how to tack and gybe, sail a triangular course effectively using the 5 essentials, follow the leader, come along side an anchored boat, pick up a man over board, pick up a mooring and capsize recovery.
- You will also cover lots of theory on sailing, weather, tides, rules of the road and practice rope work.

5 DAY BASIC SKILLS (Level 1 and 2 together)
This 5 Full Day Course covers both the Start Sailing and Basic Skills Irish Sailing Assoc. Syllabus and runs each day from 10:30am till 5:30p.m.
- Participants will start off with an Instructor in the boat who will guild you through a variety of exercises and maneuvers to help you learn the skills of sailing a dinghy and gain confidence on the water.
- Then later on in the week you will be watched from the safety boat by your Instructor as you handle it all on your own and will be given many tasks and challenges to progress your sailing abilities.
- This Course content will deal with rigging, reefing while ashore and afloat, rope work, launch and recovery, the 5 essentials, tacking and gibing, coming alongside, picking up a mooring, man over board, anchoring and capsize recovery. As well as learning lots of sailing theory like points of sailing, no go zone, how a sail works, tides and weather knowledge, rules of the road and first aid.
- And why not finish off the week with a Sailing Trip (weather permitting).
- Successful participants will be awarded the Basic Skills Cert.

A FAMILY SAILING HOLIDAY (Start Sailing)

IMPROVING SKILLS COURSE - (Level 3)
- This is 5 Full days OR alternatively run over 2 weekends.., what ever suits you best.
- If you have sailed before, these courses give you an opportunity to get out on the water and improve your skills.
- Fine tuning, sailing backwards, racing techniques, anchoring, reefing while underway, rudderless, spinnaker and trapeze work are all included as well as the ability to sail a triangular course in light to strong winds to best advantage and development of sail adjustments and boat handling skills.
- Day sailing and knowledge of coastal information such as tide tables, compass and rule of twelve will be covered as well weather and safety precautions and procedures.

NOTE: ALL OF THESE CERTIFIED COURSES FOLLOW THE I.S.A (Irish Sailing Association) GUIDELINES AND SYLLABUS AND ON SUCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A COURSE PARTICIPANTS WILL BE AWARDED WITH A CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY.
We run Half Day Sessions, 2 DAY BEGINNER and 3 DAY IMPROVER COURSES in windsurfing all week long as well as at weekends.
Even if you have never tried windsurfing before, our experienced instructors and range of up to date equipment will ensure that you are up and going in no time. We start off with onshore tuition, followed by on the water tuition under the watchful eye of the instructor who is there to give you all the advice you need.

TASTER SESSIONS (2 ½ Hrs Long)
 
BEGINNERS COURSE
- We will get you up and going in this exciting high speed sport.
- After which you will be able to windsurf in light to moderate winds and will be equipped with the techniques to help improve your skill level.
- We will work on stance, tacking and gibing, beach starts, sailing a triangular course, rescue techniques and much more.
 
IMPROVERS COURSE
- Learn faster tacking and gibing, carve gybes, water starts, use of the harness and foot straps, learn to plane in moderate to fresh wind conditions and catch a wave to experience the ultimate thrill and exhilaration of windsurfing.
- 2 DAY BEGINNERS COURSE: (10:30-5:00p.m) €150 PER PERSON
- 2 DAY IMPROVERS COURSE: (10:30-5:00p.m) €175 PER PERSON.
- TASTER SESSION: €35 PER PERSON. (2 ½ Hrs long).

Nevsail is a National Training Centre for Power boating in Ireland and all our courses follow the Irish Sailing Association Guildlines.
On successfully completing one of our Power boating Courses participants will be awarded with a recognized Certificate.
These courses that we run will teach you how to handle a Powerboat correctly for everyday use and emergency situations, providing you with the high safety standards on the water and making sure you get the most of your boat.
Each course offers plenty of personal attention and the opportunity to target certain aspects of Power boating that is of most relevance to you.
Private tuition in your own Power boat may also be available.....just ask for details.
1 DAY INTRODUCTION TO POWERBOATS COURSE - (10:30-5:00 p.m)
- This course will provide you with the basic skills and back ground knowledge required to drive a powerboat completely and safely under supervision.
- It is ideally suited to anyone new to Power boating and will provide a short but practical introduction to boat handling and safety on powerboats.
- Core skills imparted in this comprehensive course include: Launch and recovery of a power boat, Confined maneuvers, High and Low Speed maneuvers.
- This course also focuses on seamanship skills such as: Man Overboard Rescues, Coming Alongside correctly, Picking up a mooring, Anchoring, Safety Equipment and Procedures, Navigation, Tides and Weather, Rules of the Road, Rope work and much more.
his course will provide you with the basic skills and back ground knowledge required to drive a powerboat completely and safely under supervision.
DATES: MARCH UNTILL OCTOBER 2009.
COST: €100 PER PERSON
2 DAY NATIONAL POWERBOAT CERTIFICATE - (10:30-5:00 p.m)
- The aim of this Two Day Course is to further develop the skills and knowledge that allow participants to safely and effectively skipper a powerboat without supervision in good conditions and familiar waters.
- You will receive professional training on coastal navigation and experience the adrenaline of controlling a planning power craft in offshore conditions.
- The I.S.A recommends this certificate as the minimum level of training required before anyone uses a powerboat on their own.
- Successful participants will receive the National Powerboat Certificate.
DATES: MARCH UNTIL OCTOBER.

At NEVSAIL WATERSPORTS we have an experienced staff of Kayaking and Canoeing Instructors.
We run INTRODUCTORY DAYS, OFFICIAL I.C.U. (Irish Canoe union) Kayak and Canoe Courses.
We offer 1 and 2 day kayak and canoe courses, 3 hour lessons and kayak/canoe hire service. We have easy to use sit on top kayaks, which are self bailing,....which means that a complete beginner can paddle safely. We also have enclosed kayaks for the more proficient kayakers as well as 16ft. Canadian canoes, which will guarantee you great fun and excitement.

LEVEL ONE I.C.U. KAYAK AND CANOE COURSES (10:30-4:30)
This course is all about introducing you to the exciting sport of kayaking/ Canoeing. Here are just a few of the details and things you will be learning about.
- INTRO TO GEAR AND EQUIPMENT
- BASIC SAFETY RULES
- ENTERING AND EXITING A KAYAK/ CANOE
- BASIC PADDLING SKILLS LIKE GOING STRAIGHT, BACKWARDS, STOPPING, TURNING ECT.
- RECOVERY PRINCIPLES.
THESE COURSES ARE BOTH 6 HOURS LONG.ALL YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU IS A TOWEL, OLD RUNNERS AND A LUNCH. WETSUITS, BOUYANCY AIDS, HEMLETS ARE ALL PROVIDED FOR YOU.
DATES: March until October 2009.
COST: €75 PER PERSON AND YOU WILL BE CERTIFIED AFTER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE COURSE
LEVEL TWO I.C.U KAYAKING/CANOE COURSES (10:30-4:30)
This course is all about improving your skills in kayaking/ canoeing. Some courses details are listed here.
- Stern rudder, sweeping strokes, bow turns, draw strokes etc.
- High and Low Bracing strokes
- Kayaking/Canoe Surfing
- Rescues
- First aid
- Knots etc.
This course is also 6 hours long and you need to have completed Level One before doing this course.
